Reason about the location of any two-digit number in the linear number system

Year 2Number & Place Value7 resources teach this

What this means, in plain words

A number line puts numbers in order along a line, evenly spaced, so larger and smaller can be seen rather than worked out.

A digit is one of the ten symbols, 0 to 9, that all numbers are written with.

This asks a child to say why, not just what. The sentence is the answer, and the number on its own is not enough.

Tagged to Year 1 and Year 2 in number & place value. 7 resources in the library teach it.
