This “Addition within 20 – Ten Frames” resource is a practical and engaging way for Year 1 pupils to practise addition using visual ten frames. Aligned with the UK National Curriculum objective “Add and subtract one-digit and two-digit numbers to 20, including zero,” this pack focuses on developing number sense and arithmetic fluency within 20. Learners are supported through a series of structured tasks that involve using, colouring, and drawing counters on ten frames to solve addition calculations such as 13 + 5, 10 + 2, and 8 + 8. The visual format helps children to internalise number combinations and build mental calculation strategies in a concrete and accessible way. The resource includes multiple practice sheets with a range of representations, along with corresponding answer sheets for quick feedback or self-assessment. It’s ideal for whole-class lessons, small group work, interventions, or home learning. Perfect for teachers, parents, and tutors supporting early maths skills with a hands-on, visual approach.
Show lessThe standard small step pack, as her own modules ship it. We do not print page counts here, because her catalogue does not publish them and a guessed number is worse than none.
Her own system, with the star count repeated in every worksheet header so a child can be handed the right sheet without a word.

“Good value, and the answers are actually on it.”
Small thing, but half the free sheets online expect you to work the answers out yourself. My TA can run a group on this without a briefing first.

“Fine, though the font is small for my class.”
The maths is right and the sequence is sensible. Several of my children needed it enlarged to A3, which is easy enough but worth knowing before you print thirty.
