Support your pupils in mastering the -cian suffix with this interactive spelling practice worksheet, specially designed for Year 3 learners. This resource combines visual prompts with structured word formation to strengthen pupils' understanding of spelling rules when adding the -cian suffix to root words. Children are first given a list of words such as: information and conversation. They are then encouraged to cover the words and write the correct -cian word under each corresponding picture. This method supports memory recall, phonological awareness, and spelling accuracy. The activity also introduces an important spelling rule: Strictly speaking, the suffixes are – ion and – ian . Clues about whether to put t, s, ss or c before these suffixes often come from the last letter or letters of the root word. – cian is used if the root word ends in c or cs. Perfect for: Spelling and grammar lessons Revision or practice homework Small group interventions Visual and kinaesthetic learners What’s included: One worksheet with root word prompts, picture cues, and space for spelling practice Answers Clear explanation of the -cian suffix spelling rule This resource is ideal for reinforcing National Curriculum expectations for spelling words with the suffix -cian.
Show lessThe standard small step pack, as her own modules ship it. We do not print page counts here, because her catalogue does not publish them and a guessed number is worse than none.
Her own system, with the star count repeated in every worksheet header so a child can be handed the right sheet without a word.
