About this resource

Build strong early number sense with this Easter Themed EYFS Easter Egg Subitising activity , designed to support Reception children in recognising quantities 1–6 without counting . This hands-on maths resource encourages children to quickly identify amounts by sight, helping to develop confident and secure early maths skills. Children can choose a picture card showing a small set of spots and instantly identify how many there are, before matching it to a grid of Easter eggs arranged in the same pattern . Alternatively, children can roll a numbered or spotty dice and cover the group of Easter eggs that represents the same quantity. Both variations encourage children to “see” numbers at a glance rather than relying on counting one-by-one. This versatile activity is ideal for independent learning , small group work , or maths continuous provision . It supports the development of subitising , number recognition , one-to-one correspondence , and mathematical vocabulary , while also promoting focus and engagement through a fun, seasonal Easter theme. A practical and engaging EYFS maths resource to reinforce early number understanding in a playful and meaningful way.Read more

The standard small step pack, as her own modules ship it. We do not print page counts here, because her catalogue does not publish them and a guessed number is worse than none.

★★★ Differentiated three ways
  • Working towardsScaffolded, with the model or the bar already drawn.
  • Working withinThe expected standard for the year group.
  • Greater depthReasoning and explaining, not just more of the same.

Her own system, with the star count repeated in every worksheet header so a child can be handed the right sheet without a word.
