Develop fine motor skills and early maths understanding with this Lunar New Year Themed Fine Motor Lanterns activity , designed especially for Reception and EYFS learners . This hands-on resource helps children strengthen their pincer grip, hand muscles and hand–eye coordination while engaging in a fun, festive task. Each lantern card features ten circles and is intended to be laminated for repeated use , making it ideal for continuous provision. When placed in a tuff tray with pom poms and tweezers , children carefully pick up and position the pom poms onto the matching lantern, encouraging precision, control and concentration . Alongside fine motor development, this activity provides meaningful opportunities to practise colour recognition and counting up to 10 , supporting early maths skills in a practical, play-based way. The tactile nature of the task also promotes independence and perseverance as children complete each lantern. Perfect for continuous provision, small group work, fine motor stations or Lunar New Year–themed learning , this resource combines celebration with purposeful skill-building, making it a valuable addition to any EYFS classroom.
Show lessThe standard small step pack, as her own modules ship it. We do not print page counts here, because her catalogue does not publish them and a guessed number is worse than none.
Her own system, with the star count repeated in every worksheet header so a child can be handed the right sheet without a word.
