About this resource

Teach Year 6 children about Remembrance Day with this engaging and accessible Remembrance Day Booklet, created to support upper Key Stage 2 learning through thoughtful, age-appropriate activities. This resource encourages pupils to reflect on the importance of Remembrance Day while developing skills in maths, vocabulary and creative writing. The booklet includes three varied activities that are ideal for use in the classroom, as part of a Remembrance Day lesson, an independent activity, a morning task or a reflective learning session. Each activity has been designed to be suitable for Year 6 children, helping them explore the meaning of remembrance in a respectful and meaningful way. Activities included: Colour by equivalent fraction activity – Children practise recognising and matching equivalent fractions while revealing a themed image through their answers. This activity provides a fun way to reinforce fraction skills and build confidence with equivalent fractions. Remembrance Day wordsearch – Pupils use the provided clues to work out themed vocabulary before finding the words in the puzzle. This supports spelling, reading comprehension and understanding of key Remembrance Day terminology. REMEMBER acrostic poem activity – Children write a reflective acrostic poem using each letter of the word REMEMBER, with additional space provided for extra sentences and phrases. A challenge activity encourages pupils to create their own acrostic poem using a different word. Answers are included at the end of the booklet, making this resource simple to use and easy to mark. It is ideal for independent work, homework, early finishers or as part of your November classroom activities. Perfect for Year 6 and upper Key Stage 2 classrooms, this Remembrance Day activity booklet combines maths practice, vocabulary development and creative writing to help children learn about remembrance in a thoughtful and engaging way.Read more
