This Lunar New Year Roman Numerals Activity provides an engaging and culturally themed way for pupils to practise reading and converting Roman numerals while developing number fluency and reasoning skills. Using a firecracker-themed worksheet , pupils are challenged to identify and colour pairs of Roman numerals that total 100 . The activity encourages careful calculation, number comparison and logical thinking, making it an excellent problem-solving task rather than simple recall. This resource is ideal for: Upper KS2 maths lessons Lunar New Year themed learning Reasoning and challenge activities Early finishers or maths rotations Pupils work with a wide range of Roman numerals, including those beyond simple tens, supporting deeper understanding and application. A numeral support version is included, showing the corresponding Arabic numbers to scaffold learning and support confidence. The Lunar New Year theme offers a meaningful cross-curricular link, making this resource perfect for themed weeks, cultural celebrations or inclusive curriculum planning.
Show lessThe standard small step pack, as her own modules ship it. We do not print page counts here, because her catalogue does not publish them and a guessed number is worse than none.
Her own system, with the star count repeated in every worksheet header so a child can be handed the right sheet without a word.

“Good value, and the answers are actually on it.”
Small thing, but half the free sheets online expect you to work the answers out yourself. My TA can run a group on this without a briefing first.

“Fine, though the font is small for my class.”
The maths is right and the sequence is sensible. Several of my children needed it enlarged to A3, which is easy enough but worth knowing before you print thirty.
