Shields: Round Any Whole Number Make rounding whole numbers engaging and curriculum-aligned with this Year 6 activity. Featuring an appealing Shields-themed design , this resource supports pupils in developing fluency and accuracy when rounding numbers to the nearest 10, 100, 1 000—or beyond. With clear visual cues and scaffolded practice, learners build a stronger sense of place value and rounding rules while staying motivated and focused. Through this resource, pupils will: Practise rounding whole numbers across different scales—from tens to thousands and more. Use visual “shield” cues to reinforce digit value and rounding logic. Apply consistent rounding rules with increasing confidence and precision. Strengthen overall number sense through repetitive, scaffolded tasks. Ideal for independent tasks, teacher-led activities, homework, or revision sessions, this resource combines visual interest with structured learning to reinforce one of mathematics’ key foundational skills.
Show lessThe standard small step pack, as her own modules ship it. We do not print page counts here, because her catalogue does not publish them and a guessed number is worse than none.
Her own system, with the star count repeated in every worksheet header so a child can be handed the right sheet without a word.

“Good value, and the answers are actually on it.”
Small thing, but half the free sheets online expect you to work the answers out yourself. My TA can run a group on this without a briefing first.

“Fine, though the font is small for my class.”
The maths is right and the sequence is sensible. Several of my children needed it enlarged to A3, which is easy enough but worth knowing before you print thirty.
