About this resource

This Year 2 Maths Assessment and Curriculum Questions Resource is a comprehensive and engaging pack designed to support teaching, learning and assessment across the full Year 2 mathematics curriculum, in line with the UK National Curriculum. It is ideal for whole-class teaching, guided groups, interventions, revision or end-of-unit assessment. The resource covers all key Year 2 maths objectives, including counting forwards and backwards to 100 and beyond, place value, comparing and ordering numbers, estimating, and using mathematical language accurately. Pupils practise fluency in addition and subtraction within 100, including mental and written methods, number bonds, fact families and missing number problems. Children are also introduced to multiplication and division using concrete objects, pictorial representations and arrays, with a focus on the 2, 5 and 10 times tables. The resource supports pupils in solving one-step and two-step word problems, developing reasoning skills and explaining their mathematical thinking. Further coverage includes fractions (finding halves, quarters, thirds and recognising equivalent fractions), measurement (length, mass, capacity, temperature and time), money (recognising coins and notes, making amounts and finding change), geometry (2D and 3D shapes and their properties), position and direction, and basic statistics such as interpreting simple pictograms, tally charts and block diagrams. With clear visuals, structured questions and real-life contexts, this resource encourages mathematical confidence, reasoning and discussion while allowing teachers to effectively assess pupil understanding and progress against Year 2 expectations.Read more

The standard small step pack, as her own modules ship it. We do not print page counts here, because her catalogue does not publish them and a guessed number is worse than none.

★★★ Differentiated three ways
  • Working towardsScaffolded, with the model or the bar already drawn.
  • Working withinThe expected standard for the year group.
  • Greater depthReasoning and explaining, not just more of the same.

Her own system, with the star count repeated in every worksheet header so a child can be handed the right sheet without a word.

Good value, and the answers are actually on it.

Small thing, but half the free sheets online expect you to work the answers out yourself. My TA can run a group on this without a briefing first.

Fine, though the font is small for my class.

The maths is right and the sequence is sensible. Several of my children needed it enlarged to A3, which is easy enough but worth knowing before you print thirty.

Printed it at eight on a Sunday and taught it on the Monday.

No editing, no reformatting, no hunting for the answers. The three levels are on separate pages, which sounds obvious until you have used the sites where they are not.
