The resource covers all key Year 6 maths learning objectives , starting with number and place value, including reading, writing and comparing numbers up to 10,000,000 , rounding numbers to any required degree of accuracy, using negative numbers in context, and working confidently with powers of 10. Pupils develop fluency in addition, subtraction, multiplication and division using large numbers, applying efficient mental strategies, formal written methods and estimation to check answers. A strong emphasis is placed on fractions, decimals and percentages , including simplifying fractions, finding common factors and multiples, adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing fractions, converting between fractions, decimals and percentages, and solving problems involving ratio and proportion. Pupils also practise calculating percentages of amounts and using these skills in real-life and financial contexts. The resource provides comprehensive coverage of algebra , including using simple formulae, expressing missing number problems algebraically, generating and describing linear number sequences, and solving equations. Measurement objectives include length, mass, capacity, perimeter, area and volume , as well as converting between metric units and understanding miles and kilometres.
