Reason about the location of any number up to 10 million, including decimal fractions, in the linear number system, and round numbers, as appropriate, including in contexts

Year 6Number & Place Value4 resources teach this

What this means, in plain words

A decimal writes parts of a whole using the places after the point: tenths, then hundredths, then thousandths.

Rounding swaps a number for a nearby, tidier one, to the nearest ten, hundred or thousand.

A number line puts numbers in order along a line, evenly spaced, so larger and smaller can be seen rather than worked out.

Tagged to Year 6 in number & place value. 4 resources in the library teach it.
