About this resource

This Year 1 Maths Assessment and Curriculum Questions Resource is a comprehensive teaching and assessment pack designed to support the full Year 1 mathematics curriculum in line with the UK National Curriculum. It is ideal for use in class, small groups, interventions or as an end-of-unit assessment tool. The resource covers a wide range of key maths objectives, including counting forwards and backwards to 100, counting in 2s, 5s and 10s, number recognition, place value, one more and one less, comparing numbers, and reading and writing numbers in numerals and words. Pupils are also supported in developing fluency in addition and subtraction within 10 and 20, number bonds to 20, missing number problems, and solving one-step word problems. In addition, the resource includes early multiplication and division using concrete objects, pictorial representations and arrays, as well as fractions (halves and quarters), measurement (length, mass, capacity and time), money, shape, and simple data and reasoning questions. Practical, child-friendly questions encourage mathematical talk, reasoning and explanation, making this resource perfect for both formative and summative assessment. Clear visuals, scaffolded questions and real-life contexts make this pack engaging and accessible for Year 1 learners, while also providing teachers with valuable insight into pupil understanding and progress.Read more

The standard small step pack, as her own modules ship it. We do not print page counts here, because her catalogue does not publish them and a guessed number is worse than none.

★★★ Differentiated three ways
  • Working towardsScaffolded, with the model or the bar already drawn.
  • Working withinThe expected standard for the year group.
  • Greater depthReasoning and explaining, not just more of the same.

Her own system, with the star count repeated in every worksheet header so a child can be handed the right sheet without a word.

Good value, and the answers are actually on it.

Small thing, but half the free sheets online expect you to work the answers out yourself. My TA can run a group on this without a briefing first.

Fine, though the font is small for my class.

The maths is right and the sequence is sensible. Several of my children needed it enlarged to A3, which is easy enough but worth knowing before you print thirty.

Printed it at eight on a Sunday and taught it on the Monday.

No editing, no reformatting, no hunting for the answers. The three levels are on separate pages, which sounds obvious until you have used the sites where they are not.
