Year 6: Four Operations: Lesson 10 – Division Word Problems Empower your Year 6 pupils to apply their division skills meaningfully with this curriculum-aligned lesson focused on division word problems . Designed to support the National Curriculum expectations, it helps learners interpret and solve real-world scenarios using division, reinforcing reasoning and problem-solving fluency. While the resource requires a free membership to view in full, the overview specifies it includes structured planning, differentiated worksheets, and reasoning tasks to boost conceptual understanding. Pupils will: Read and analyse contextual scenarios to determine appropriate division methods. Apply strategies such as bar modelling, grouping, or written algorithms to solve problems. Develop the discipline of interpreting remainders or outcomes within real-life contexts. Strengthen mathematical reasoning through tasks that require explanations and justifications of their solutions. Perfect for guided lessons, independent practice, or classroom warm-ups, this resource helps pupils deepen their understanding of division and build confidence in applying it across varied contexts.
Show lessThe standard small step pack, as her own modules ship it. We do not print page counts here, because her catalogue does not publish them and a guessed number is worse than none.
Her own system, with the star count repeated in every worksheet header so a child can be handed the right sheet without a word.

“Good value, and the answers are actually on it.”
Small thing, but half the free sheets online expect you to work the answers out yourself. My TA can run a group on this without a briefing first.

“Fine, though the font is small for my class.”
The maths is right and the sequence is sensible. Several of my children needed it enlarged to A3, which is easy enough but worth knowing before you print thirty.
