What this means, in plain words
The denominator is the number underneath the line in a fraction. It tells you how many equal parts the whole was split into.
A decimal writes parts of a whole using the places after the point: tenths, then hundredths, then thousandths.
Per cent means out of one hundred, so 30 per cent is 30 parts out of 100.
