About this resource

Help your Year 2 pupils build fluency and problem-solving skills with this interactive Maths Resource Pack, focusing on adding three one-digit numbers. Fully aligned with the National Curriculum, this resource introduces strategies for combining three single-digit numbers efficiently and accurately. Through engaging teaching slides and worked examples, pupils explore mental strategies such as spotting number bonds, making 10, and looking for doubles to simplify calculations. For example, children learn that in the problem 3 + 7 + 5, they can first make 10 with 3 + 7, then add the remaining 5 to reach 15. Independent activities encourage pupils to practise systematically, explain their reasoning, and apply strategies to a range of problems. Real-life word problems are included to make learning meaningful, while the plenary recap consolidates methods and helps children reflect on which strategies worked best. What’s Included in the Pack? ✔ Teaching slides introducing strategies for adding three one-digit numbers ✔ Step-by-step worked examples with clear explanations ✔ Differentiated practice activities for varied abilities ✔ Real-life problem-solving tasks to apply addition in context ✔ Independent practice with opportunities for reasoning and explanation ✔ A plenary recap to review and consolidate strategies Why Teachers Love This Pack: ✔ Fully aligned with the Year 2 National Curriculum for Maths ✔ Builds fluency, reasoning, and efficient calculation strategies ✔ Differentiated to support all learners in the classroom ✔ Perfect for lessons, group work, interventions, or SATs preparation Curriculum Links: This pack supports the Year 2 National Curriculum for Mathematics by helping pupils: ✔ Add three one-digit numbers using mental strategies ✔ Apply number bonds, doubles, and partitioning to simplify problems ✔ Develop fluency, reasoning, and problem-solving confidence Whether introducing strategies for the first time or revising them ahead of assessments, this resouRead more

The standard small step pack, as her own modules ship it. We do not print page counts here, because her catalogue does not publish them and a guessed number is worse than none.

★★★ Differentiated three ways
  • Working towardsScaffolded, with the model or the bar already drawn.
  • Working withinThe expected standard for the year group.
  • Greater depthReasoning and explaining, not just more of the same.

Her own system, with the star count repeated in every worksheet header so a child can be handed the right sheet without a word.

Good value, and the answers are actually on it.

Small thing, but half the free sheets online expect you to work the answers out yourself. My TA can run a group on this without a briefing first.

Fine, though the font is small for my class.

The maths is right and the sequence is sensible. Several of my children needed it enlarged to A3, which is easy enough but worth knowing before you print thirty.

Printed it at eight on a Sunday and taught it on the Monday.

No editing, no reformatting, no hunting for the answers. The three levels are on separate pages, which sounds obvious until you have used the sites where they are not.
