“Fine, though the font is small for my class.”
The maths is right and the sequence is sensible. Several of my children needed it enlarged to A3, which is easy enough but worth knowing before you print thirty.

Working Without Worksheets – Year 1 Lesson 5: Count in 5s This Working Without Worksheets lesson pack for Year 1 Place Value helps pupils master the skill of counting in 5s through fun, practical, and hands-on activities—without the need for worksheets. The lesson includes full teacher planning, clear objectives, key mathematical questions , and a starter activity that builds on prior learning (such as recognising groups of 5 in everyday objects like fingers, dice, or starfish). Pupils then explore counting in 5s using real objects grouped into fives , before moving on to jumping along a 50 grid in 5s to strengthen their understanding of number patterns. Independent activities encourage children to record directly in their maths books, building fluency and good practice. What’s Included in the Pack? ✔ Full teacher planning with step-by-step guidance ✔ Recap and starter activities linked to prior learning ✔ Key questions to develop reasoning and assess understanding ✔ Practical task: group objects into 5s and count them aloud ✔ Interactive task: jump along a 50 grid in 5s, spotting patterns ✔ Independent work with direct recording into books (no worksheets needed) ✔ Plenary activities to consolidate understanding (e.g. What comes after 25 when counting in 5s? ) Why Teachers Love This Resource: ✔ Engaging, hands-on maths lesson without worksheets ✔ Combines practical grouping and visual number line activities ✔ Encourages independent work recorded straight into books ✔ Saves preparation time with ready-made slides and planning Curriculum Links (Year 1: Number and Place Value): This lesson supports pupils to: ✔ Count in multiples of 5 within 50 ✔ Recognise groups of 5 in real-life and pictorial contexts ✔ Identify and extend number patterns when counting in 5s ✔ Build fluency and reasoning through structured practice Whether you’re introducing skip-counting in 5s for the first time or consolidating learning before moving on to times tables, this Working Without Workshe
Show lessThe standard small step pack, as her own modules ship it. We do not print page counts here, because her catalogue does not publish them and a guessed number is worse than none.
Her own system, with the star count repeated in every worksheet header so a child can be handed the right sheet without a word.

“Printed it at eight on a Sunday and taught it on the Monday.”
No editing, no reformatting, no hunting for the answers. The three levels are on separate pages, which sounds obvious until you have used the sites where they are not.

“Matches our White Rose planning almost week for week.”
I stopped adapting things from three different sites and now start here. The odd week does not line up exactly, but the small step it covers is always somewhere in the same block.
