This is a proposal for how the back office could work. It is not connected to live data.

Catalogue figures are measured from a harvest of the live site. People, orders and campaigns are invented.

Read only

You are browsing as a signed-out visitor, so nothing on these screens will save. Publishing, generating and importing are all refused.

Dashboard Everything you have published

Build a module

Say where it sits, type the questions, and the site makes the module: the plan, the slides, three differentiated worksheets, the answers and the cover. You see every page of it before anything is published.

How this differs from what you do today

At the moment a small step is entered as a shop product: six separate uploads, a price you never charge, several categories, a membership rule, and a cover made by hand. Five screens, and nothing that knows the six files are one module. That is how the catalogue reached 6,558 items with 1,102 of them undescribed. Here it is one form, once.

Which year group is it for?

Year group

Where does it sit in the year?

Choose a year group first and your planning grid appears here.

Your White Rose blocks will be listed here.

Which strand does it belong to?

This is what files it on your year pages and in every related list. Getting it wrong is why 1,071 of your live resources sit in no category the navigation links to.

What should teachers see it called?

We suggest a name from your choices above. Type over it whenever you like.

Describe it in a sentence or two

This is what a teacher reads before deciding, and it is the only thing Google can see. It is why 1,102 of your resources are invisible in search today.

Forty words or more works best.

Build the small steps

Type the questions and the site makes the files: the plan, the slides, three differentiated worksheets, the answers and the cover. Six documents per step, from one form.

Not started

This is what files the step on your objective pages.

Optional. Your own planning sheets carry this, so leaving it out makes a thinner plan.

Optional. One per line. What has to be on the table.

Optional. One per line. The words the children should be using.

Optional. A short paragraph for whoever teaches it, the way your own plans read.

Optional. One per line. The questions you ask on the carpet.

Optional. One per line. What children usually get wrong here.

You do not have to think about the layout here. Write the questions and we will lay the page out for you. On the next screen you see the finished sheets and can drag anything around, resize it or change its words, with the page in front of you.

Still to do: give the step a name; write the learning objective; add a working towards question; add a working within question; add a greater depth question.

One step. A White Rose block is usually four to six.

Already made the files yourself?Attach them instead. Most of the time you will not need this.

Planning, slides and worksheets, each as a PDF and a PowerPoint. We work out which is which from the file name. Use this for a step whose artwork we cannot draw for you, or to put an old module on the new site as it is.

The check nobody expects. Your live catalogue has 100 resources filed under no year group and 1,071 in no category the navigation links to, and nothing ever warned you. This is that warning, before you publish rather than in six months.

  • Its own page: A module with no name cannot have a page.Give the module a name.
  • The year group page: No year group chosen, so it will not appear on any year page at all.Choose a year group. This is the single fault behind 100 of your live resources appearing on no year page.
  • The strand page: No strand chosen, so it will not be in any of the lists the navigation links to.Choose a strand. 1,071 of your live resources sit in no category the navigation links to.
  • The planner, at its week: No week chosen, so the planning grid will have a gap where this should be.Pick the block and the week it belongs to.
  • The week at a glance: Needs a week before it can appear on a week page.Pick the week.
  • The objective page: No learning objective written, so it joins none of your 443 objective pages.Write the learning objective on at least one step.
  • Search results: With no description it is findable by title alone, which is how 1,102 of your resources became invisible.Let the description be written for you, or write forty words of your own.
  • Related lists on neighbouring resources: Related lists are built from year group and strand, so it needs both.Choose a year group and a strand.
  • Free samples: Members only, so it will not be in free samples. That is a choice, not a fault.
  • Key events: Key events lists only modules tied to a date in the school year, such as Christmas or SATs. This one is not, which is normal for a White Rose small step.

When you press publish

  • A page is written and put on the site
  • A cover is made in the year group colour
  • Your files are kept together as one pack, levels labelled
  • It is filed under the year group
  • It appears in the planner at its week
  • Members can download it

A few things are still needed. Press the button and we will point them out.
